I believe God is calling me to Norway. I have been working towards that for almost a year now. My church denomination does not have a presence in Norway so I have done a lot of networking. I have been following the bread crumbs God throws in my path. One of those bread crumbs led to Tromsø. A college town 200 miles north of the Arctic Circle.

Bread Crumbs to Tromsø

I have been talking with people all over the world about what is going on in Norway. And just a side note, it is so encouraging to hear about the Body of Christ working all over. So much amazing ministry going on around the world. One missionary couple, Doug & Lisa Keen, currently serving in England, referred me to a few people with connections in Norway. First, Ed & Kate Major, who I was already talking with, see Searching for Workers in Norway. Doug had another lead, which I did not know about, a couple who were currently living and serving in Norway.

This couple has asked for anonymity when I write about them, so I will call them the Smiths. The Smiths have been living and working in Norway for over 10 years. Not church planting specifically but working at a school and having bible studies at their house. Mrs. Smith told me she had received an email from a pastor in Oregon who wanted to start a Calvary Chapel in Tromsø just that week. Did I want his information? Yes please.

This led me to Pastor Paul LeBoutillier from Calvary Chapel Ontario. When I reached out to ask about the church he was starting, I was told that a group of Filipino’s who were in Tromsø had contacted him. He was not actually starting a church. This group had been meeting together weekly and watching his sermons online. They contacted Pastor Paul to see how to go about starting their own church. They were still praying about this and were unsure if they wanted outside help. That’s it, end of bread crumb. We did agree to stay in touch if there were any updates. Which there have not been.

Some notes about Tromsø

• This is pronounced Trum-zuh.

• The northern lights are visible from town.

• Known as the Paris of the north.

• There are many metal, indie, and electronic music concerts held there.

• They have 64 days of midnight sun each year (the sun doesn’t actual set).
